Happy with the Arcus T
Of course, we and our competition pilots are convinced and enthusiastic of the harmonic flight characteristics and the top performance of our Arcus. Nevertheless it is for us a really nice confirmation and praise to all our employees, if we get such a feedback of a customer.
Here the flight impression of our customer Barry Jaeger in USA. He has got the first Arcus T in USA:
"Hallo Heinz and Monty,
I can hardly describe how great the Arcus is. This ship flies way easier than my single seater. Take-offs and landings were a breeze. You could nail your touch point every time. Aileron control is great. We were towed with a short rope that would cause the left wing to drop from the prop wash and it would immediately pick up with a little right stick. In fact the first couple tows we were over correcting because we were not expecting to have that much control.
The thermalling feels like you are on rails. I have never been in a sailplane that even comes close to the way it thermals, singleplace or dual. All you need are slight rudder adjustment without the issue of over-correcting because of momentum. Speed stays constant. You could comfortably thermal at 45 knots. You would swear you are in a 15 or 18 meter ship. We tried the different flap settings. This completely changed the way the ship handled. I could see one for weak thermals and another that would be great for choppy rough thermals. The roll rate is great. The cockpit is super quiet even at 100 knots.
Of course the glide is flat. I am still looking at a number of our traces and they are hard to believe. We made 3 long 85-90 knot glides yesterday and all were right at 40:1
