The World Championships of the small classes in Narromine, Australia, which took place from December 3 to 16, are over. Find a little overview of the results here!

On Saturday, December 16, 2023, after incredible 11 competition days, the time had finally come in Narromine: three new world champions were crowned!

During a festive ceremony in hot weather of around 35 degrees, everybody celebrated once again before the long journey home and the packing of the planes began.

We would like to congratulate the three new world champions Sebastian Kawa (Poland, Diana 2) in the 15m class, Tom Arscott (Great Britain, LS8) in the standard class and James Nugent (Australia, LS3) in the club class.

We would especially like to congratulate Henrik Bieler from Germany in the 15m class, who achieved an incredible second place with a Ventus-3 and thus became Vice World Champion!

Together with his teammate Steffen Goettler with a Ventus-2ax, he consistently flew at the top and earned a well-deserved 2nd place!

But this is not the only success in the 15m class with gliders from Schempp-Hirth: five gliders from Kirchheim are among the top 10 places, three of them Ventus-3!

Congratulations to the following other SH pilots:

5th place: Phil Jones (British Schempp-Hirth representative from Southern Sailplanes), Ventus-3T

7th place: Adam Woolley (Australia), Ventus-3T

10th place: Tobias Geiger (Australia), Ventus-2ax

13th place: Derren Francis (Great Britain), Ventus-3T

17th place: Tim Taylor (USA), Ventus-2c

24th place: Poul Larsen (Denmark), Ventus-2a

Of course, we would also like to congratulate all the other participants and thank the whole organisation team and volunteers for their great effort. Without you, events like these wouldn't be possible!

We hope that all participants have now returned home safely and can enjoy the Christmas season with their families.

We are already looking forward to the next big World Championships in Uvalde, Texas, next year!
