Maiden flight of the Discus-2c FES

On November 5th, 2015, the time had come for the first flight of the Discus-2c with an integrated FES sustainer – the Discus-2c FES.

 

The surrounding conditions were just perfect: the sunniest autumn weather the curious audience could wish for and cloud thermal over the Alb. 

After landing the pilot, Schempp- Hirth engineer Joachim Krauter, was absolutely enthusiastic. Just like Dipl. Ing. Helmut Treiber who couldn’t resist to do a second flight with the glider and experience its flight quality. He reached ground with a big, pleased grin.

The FES sustainer by LZ Design has already proven it’s worth in our Ventus-2cxa. The system impresses by a wide field of applications and a smooth handling. The integration of the FES in our popular Discus-2c combines the harmonic and powerful flight quality with an engine power, that’s extremely effective, quiet and available within seconds.
